Muzzle Loader- Vassar Michigan
December 6 - December 9
Who: Registered Operation Injured Soldiers Veterans
When: DEC 6-9, 2017 (hunters will arrive any time after noon on Thursday the 6th. Hunting will begin in the morning of the 7th and will continue through the morning of the 9th.) A drawing will be held on the evening of the 6th to assign hunting locations to all hunters. At 8 PM on the 6th we will conduct a hunter’s safety and coordination meeting. At that time each hunter will meet up with their guides and go over the rules of the hunt and any special instructions.
Where: Lodging will be at the Wesleyan Woods Church Camp
(Please bring appropriate bedding and personal grooming items, bunk beds and shower facilities are provided)
Hunting will occur on multiple private properties and guides will escort hunters to the areas
Licensing: Each hunter should have a valid deer or combo license as well as a base license for MI 2017
Over the counter doe tags may be available for Tuscola County DMU 332 use
Harvest Rules: does harvested require an antlerless tag. Each separate property has its own rules and restriction based on the landowner’s guidance. Your guide will inform you if there are any restrictions or special rules in play for the piece of property you are drawn to hunt. Processing of the game will be each hunter’s responsibility. Guides can provide assistance with field dressing, and recovery of animals if needed.
Equipment: Each hunter will be responsible to bring their own muzzleloader, ammo and supplies as well as appropriate cold weather hunting clothing with blaze orange as required by DNR. If you are in need of equipment please let us know as soon as possible so that we can attempt to accommodate your request.
Meals: We will be holding our annual chili cook-off on Friday night. Hunters, please bring a crockpot of your favorite chili recipe to compete in this event. There will be a very nice prize for the winner of this event. On Saturday evening we will be holding our annual muzzleloader dinner which will be catered . This is always a very nice meal and Mark does a fantastic job. For breakfast, hunters are encouraged to bring their own items to pass such as Danishes, breakfast sandwiches, cereal bars, fruit etc. Each hunter is responsible for their own lunch meals. Some property owners may be providing meals for the troops’ others may not so please be prepared to purchase your own meals if necessary for lunch. Hunters are encouraged to bring their own snack and drink items to share with others.
Guides: we will make every effort to have a guide assigned to each property and also to sit with any persons who may need assistance. Please let us know in advance if there are any physical or dietary restrictions.
Transportation: each hunter will be responsible for his or her own transportation to the event and mileage reimbursement is not available. Hunters are encouraged to car pool if possible to save on parking and assist with coordination to each area.
Restrictions: This is a church camp. Drugs and alcohol are forbidden on this property.
Registration for this event will end November 17, 2018.
